Project Overview
Location: Costa Rica
Industry: Building Materials Storage
Stored Products: Steel Rebar
Storage Solution: Single-Sided Cantilever Racking
Surface Finish: Electrostatic Powder Coating
A building materials storage company in Costa Rica required a more organized and efficient solution for storing various sizes of steel rebar. As inventory volume continued to grow, floor stacking made it increasingly difficult to manage stock, access different bar diameters, and maintain smooth daily warehouse operations. After evaluating the warehouse layout and storage requirements, a customized single-sided cantilever racking system was designed and installed to improve storage capacity and material handling efficiency.
The customer stores and distributes steel reinforcement bars in multiple lengths and diameters for local construction projects. The warehouse required a storage system that could keep different specifications separated while allowing forklifts to load and retrieve materials efficiently.

Project Challenges
Before the installation, rebar bundles were primarily stored on the warehouse floor. As inventory increased, several operational challenges became more noticeable:
- Limited storage capacity due to floor stacking.
- Difficulty identifying and accessing different rebar sizes.
- Longer loading and unloading times during daily operations.
- Congested working areas that affected forklift movement.
- Inconsistent warehouse organization as inventory changed frequently.
The customer wanted a storage system that could improve warehouse organization without interrupting normal operations.
Customized Racking Solution
Based on the warehouse dimensions and storage requirements, a single-sided cantilever racking system was selected for the project.
The racks were installed along the warehouse walls, creating organized storage lanes for different rebar specifications while leaving sufficient aisle space for forklift operation. Each storage level was assigned to specific product sizes, making inventory management more efficient and reducing unnecessary material handling.
The cantilever structure allowed long bundles of rebar to be stored securely while providing direct access to each storage location. The electrostatic powder-coated finish provides a durable surface suitable for daily warehouse use.
Conclusion
This cantilever racking project in Costa Rica demonstrates how a customized storage layout can improve warehouse organization for rebar storage. By replacing floor stacking with a single-sided cantilever racking system, the customer created a safer, more efficient warehouse with improved accessibility and better use of available space.
For warehouses storing steel rebar and other long construction materials, a customized cantilever racking solution can provide flexible storage that supports daily handling operations while maintaining an organized warehouse environment.
